About Us

We’re Anneka Rains and AJ Hammack, the owners and operators of Duck Duck Moose Pet Care! Our two beloved kitties, Duckie and Moose, and our compassion for animals inspired us to create a pet sitting business that emphasized attention to detail, clear communication, and reliability. Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for offering peace of mind to even the most careful of pet owners!

We are proud to have a team of skilled and qualified folks to help us deliver the professional and compassionate care our clients have come to expect and rely on. We can’t thank this community enough for supporting our growing small business!

We welcome dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and personalities—including those with special needs like anxiety or dog-reactivity. We look forward to meeting your pets and providing them with the care they deserve!

Meet Your Professionals

  • ANNEKA RAINS | Owner & Staff

Anneka's passion for animals developed at a young age when she adopted her first two kitties from a local shelter in her hometown of Austin, Texas. Since 2017, she has been dedicated to the professional pet care industry, working with a wide variety of dogs and cats.

For four years prior to founding Duck Duck Moose Pet Care, Anneka specialized in walking dog-reactive and anxious pups for another local company. During this time, she gained valuable experience in confidently handling and caring for pets with such personalities.

In 2022, Anneka took the next step in her career by opening her own pet sitting business, where she continues to apply her expertise to support reactive pups and care for animals of all kinds!

  • AJ HAMMACK | Owner & Staff

AJ has been surrounded by dogs his entire life. As a proud Washingtonian, he's no stranger to the Seattle rain and enjoys spending time outdoors with his pup and kitty friends! AJ has a special place in his heart for small dogs, having shared much of his life with his late teacup Chihuahua, Tuff. Now, he shares his home with two cats (the namesakes of the company) alongside his partner, Anneka.

AJ joined the Duck Duck Moose Pet Care team in 2023, bringing with him experience and confidence in working with reactive and anxious pets. Known for his patience, AJ loves winning the trust of even the most ornery of animals!

  • ALICIA K. | Staff

Alicia has had a love for animals her entire life, growing up with cats, dogs, birds, and bunnies, and even fostering puppies and kittens for the Humane Society. Her late Australian Shepherd, Charlie, was her loyal companion for 17½ years, teaching her patience, training, senior pet care, and how to manage behavioral challenges with understanding.

Originally from Washington, Alicia loves being outdoors in any weather and is always prepared for rainy-day walks. She understands the importance of trust when it comes to pet care, which is why she treats every animal as if they were her own, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and well cared for.

With a background in hospitality and project management, Alicia brings reliability, organization, and attention to detail to each walk, keeping pet parents informed and at ease.

  • BRANDI B. | Staff

Brandi grew up in California and Washington surrounded by a menagerie of family pets over the years, including some special dogs, a beloved cat, and several guinea pigs. She even received a pig for her 16th birthday!

Brandi recently retired from the non-profit world and is thrilled to be able to help the community in new ways.  She and her wife have lived in West Seattle for nearly thirty years, raising two great kids. They currently have two sweet Shichon dogs - Murphy (the shy introvert) and Bosley (the reactive extrovert).  Her daily walks in the neighborhood have introduced her to many other local pet parents and their companions. She also loves spending time with her family and friends, going to soccer games (Go West Seattle High School!  Go Highline!) and loves to volunteer locally for a variety of organizations.

Brandi knows how leaving your furry family at home can be anxiety-inducing and is committed to treating all of them with kindness, respect and care.  She looks forward to meeting you and to showering your pets with love, playtime, and all the cuddles they desire.
